We have suffered because of our underperformance in Hardpoint for a few weeks.

While we are gradually getting our HP performance back, the problem we went through is still there.

And now is a good time to fully understand where our true problem stems from.

The Meta

The thing I’m pointing out is the lack of understanding of the current codm meta.

~2022

In general, CODM meta didn’t change until 2022, and all the teams gave their players designated roles. They were not replacing each other and just stick to their roles.

2022 meta (old) simplified. Role was strict, and each player did their own distinctive job. this meta was what NA performed good at.

Teams were like a river, and players were like arms of the river that contribute to the mainstream.

2023~

But the result of the 2023 champs is significantly different from the 2022 one. This should have been a warning sign to West, but apparently, they didn’t process it properly.

2023 meta (new) simplified. The gap between each group (AR / SMG) becomes significantly small. Role difference between those two becomes ambiguous.

Minimizing the gap between players was the key here.
